South Africa's premier batsman Jacques Kallis, who achieved the feat of scoring a century in each innings of a Test on Thursday in Karachi against Pakistan, credited long break from cricket as the main reason for his return to top form.
“It’s nice to start again and you are fresh after a good rest, certainly the longest break that I’ve had since I left the school,” Kallis told reporters in Karachi after scoring his second hundred of the Test.
The 31-year-old Kallis had scored 155 in the first innings and then notched up 100 not out in the second essay to ensure that South Africa declared their second innings at 264-7 and set Pakistan a daunting task of scoring 424 to win the match.
“It’s amazing what breaks can do for you, especially if you are an all-rounder and are in the game most of the time,” Kallis added.
The top allrounder was dropped from South Africa’s Twenty20 World Cup squad last month.
